Critical reflection in Teacher Education
Dear friends
This is the time for preparing ourselves into the next academic courses. As Teacher Educators we have to critically examine and evaluate our own activities regularly to improve our professional practices.
Critical reflection involves different steps : goal setting for identified weaknesses and strengths, reflective journaling, reflections for implemented or observed lessons, coaching and conferencing process, creating a growth portfolio, and reflective summary of the whole course.

ReplyDeleteThe research paper is really a informative papere and a high class paper. The difference between reflective practice and critical reflection is explained nicely.reflection for, in ,on action concepts are explained. The strategies/activities for critical reflection will help us to practice in our classroom practices. The paper we must read 3 to 4 time for better understanding. I am not able to understand the research part but the theory part is understood to some extent.for our student teachers to improve their higher order thinking and to make them sound in pedagogical content knowledge we must aquanaut critical thinking skills.the questions in taxonomy of reflection developed by Peter Pappas will also help.

The distinction among reflection for practice, reflection in practice, and reflection on practice is also very important. Coaching and conferencing with student teachers on different dimensions of pre service is required for making them professionally equipped humane teacher
DeleteThese questions are very important, while reflecting on our activities. What am I doing and why? How can I better meet my students’needs? What options are available? How can I encourage more involvement or learning of the students? Have I considered my own values as a professional and my comfort level in acting on those values? What conscious choice can I make to make a difference?

ReplyDeleteI am expressing my point of views in reflection of teaching .( Link not opened ) . Developing a reflective practice is essential for professional growth and student learning . A reflective practice is a viable solution. Reflective practice is considered to be central to effective teaching and instruction . A truly reflective teacher becomes sensitive and responsive to the needs , issues and concerns that are important in a shaping a quality education. Further being reflective helps teachers deal with the unavoidable situations and uncertainties that are a part of every day decision making processes and influence learning for students. Another important reason to practice reflection is that it givesteachers the freedom to act in an intentional and purposeful manner .Teachers can improve their effectiveness in the classroom by understanding their own teaching style and building upon it , using the reflective practice .
