Action Research

Today read about Action Research. I would like to share with you all about the characteristics of Action Research. let us reflect on the points and give your feedback.


Action Research is
  a process that improves education in general by incorporating change
  a process involving educators working together to improve their own practices
  persuasive and authoritative, since it is done by teachers for teachers
  collaborative, that is , it is composed of educators talking and working with other educators in empowering relationships
  is participative, since educators are integral members- not disinterested outsiders of the research process
  practical and relevant to classroom teachers, since it allows them direct access to research findings
  developing critical reflection about one’s teaching
  a planned , systematic approach to understand the learning process
  a process that requires us to test our ideas about education
  open minded
  a critical analysis of educational places of work
  acyclical process of planning, acting, developing and reflecting
  • ·         a justification of one’s teaching practices


Action Research is not

  the usual thing that teachers do when thinking about teaching; it is more systematic and more collaborative
  simply problem solving; it involves the specification of a problem, the development of something new and critical reflection on its effectiveness
  done ‘to’ or ‘by’ other people; it is a research done by particular educators on their own work
·         the simple implementation of pre determined answers to educational questions; it explores, discovers and works to find creative solutions to educational problems
·         conclusive, the results of action research are neither right or wrong but rather tentative solutions that are based on observations and other data collection and that require monitoring and evaluation in order to identify the strengths and limitations.
·         a fad; good teaching has always involved the systematic examination of the instructional process and its effect on student learning. Teachers are always looking for ways to improve instructional practices and although teachers seldom have referred to this process of observation, revision and reflection as research, that is exactly what it is.

Very useful material to know about action research actually most of us very little knowledge about the research and this is the basis of fuƱdamental research so we should know the steps, procedure and practical utility of action research then only we can solve various problems and find out the solution

  2. It is very informative one.It is clear from the article that action research is based on observation and data collection. To do knee observation we have to identify strength & limitation of the probldo.on which we are going to do action research.As Teachers always do their best in the class to improve the teaching learning process, action research helps them to improve instructional objectives.similarly the process of reflection in action research effectd the Teacher to evaluate himself.

  3. Action Research is often used in the field of education. It is either research initiated to solve an immediate problem or a reflective process of progressive problem solving led by individuals working with others in team or as part of a community of practice to improve the way they address issues and solve problems .It is a cyclic process. First identifying a problem , Devise a plan , Act to implement the plan , observe , Reflect and Share .It helps teachers 1 ) link prior knowledge to new information , 2 ) learn from experience and ask questions. As it plays an important role in the preparation and professional development of teachers the pre-service 2nd year pupil teachers in D.El.Ed courses do actioƱ researches .

First of all thank you madam for sharing valuable information relating to action research.It creats a clear cut vision about action research with in us.As a teacher educator we must search solutions of immediate problems relating to classroom.In this regard action research helps a lot to strengthen our capacity.Therefore, we must have depth in this field so that we can eradicate our problems easily.

  5. Action research, the name it self says it's meaning that the research has it's action. To understand what is action research then first we should understand what it is not. The above material will help us to build a clear concept of action research. It simply explained all the key characteristics of AR.
